Moderate to fast growth 40 to 50 feet in height. Spread 35 to 40 feet. Broadly oval and round form. Small red conspicuous flowers and fruit early spring. Seeds quite popular with squirrels and birds. Smooth, light gray bark developing to darker gray with ridges and furrows as tree matures. Medium green glossy foliage spring and summer. One of the last red maples to color in the fall and retain its leaves later than most. Red to orange-red fall foliage color. Dependable fall color is reliable even in warmer climates not ideally suited for good color. Likes moist, well drained soil but widely adaptable to various soils. Heat tolerant.
