Medium growth 20 to 80 feet. Stiff, dark green needles are 2 in a bundle and 3 to 5 inches long. Grows best in moist fertile well drained soil. A dense spreading pine with pendulous branches and a broad pyramidal head. The best evergreen for planting along the seashore in the northeastern United States. It withstands seashore conditions, even a small amount of salt water spray. It has thrived in Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard where other plants have failed. It grows rather irregularly; Japanese have trained this tree into many interesting forms. Good for windbreaks, screens, Japanese gradens, bonsai.
Tree height is about 1-2 feet upon shipping.
