Zone 5-9
A broadly spreading deciduous tree growing to 60 feet in height and equal in width. Tiny, green flowers in small clusters appear in early summer. After pollination each tiny fruit develops into a 1 inch long dark red/black, juicy, edible fruit. Fruit ripens in summer to late summer and may be used for pies, tarts, puddings, or sauces. Leaves are 6 inches long, 4 1/4 inches across. They are heart shaped at the base, toothed, green above, hairy beneath. The bark is orange-brown and ridged. Likes warm, well drained loamy soil. The lonevity of the black mulberry is the greatest of the mulberry varieties. The ripe fruit is very attractive to birds.
Height is about 5-12 inches upon shipping.
