Slow growth to 40 feet. One fo the most tolerant spruces as it withstands wind, heat, cold, drought and crowding; best in full sun. Short, stiff, bluish-green needles. One of the best evergreens for use in a container, year round, even in the North. Often used as a decorated, living Christmas tree. Also, an excellent dense evergreen screen that will not get rangy and out of control as it matures. Not a well known tree, but definitely should not be overlooked. Ordinary soil. Good bonsai subject.
